The Sacrifice to Satisfy Ambition

in poetry •  7 years ago

She’s on a path
Parallel to her heart’s desire
Excelling and building one road
While her heart calls out to another

I think what she hopes for
Is a merging lane very soon
Or someway somehow be able to build
An exit ramp to merge the two

It’s inevitable
That she had chosen this load
As she couldn’t contemplate
Ambition satisfied with small roads

So she took the highway
By nature of mind
And from time to time
Glances right

To see the small road abandoned
Yet intertwined
With complexity, curiosity
Beautiful signs

With forests of knowledge
Rivers of love
The sweetest air
Warmth radiating from above

Absolute sophistication
Timeless and mindful peace
Meanwhile she drives fast on this highway
Breaking all regulations on speed

She takes off traction control
Wind in her hair — she’s flying
Exhilaration at best
While her heart’s desire dying

Dying to switch gear
And take it slow
As her heart ponders
The experience of a stroll

My favorite part is the forest of knowledge as information is thicker than woods, cannot always see the forest for the trees in life. I'm Oatmeal. I do poetry, write, draw, love your avatar, I'm from Oregon, my grandma is from Florida but haven't been there yet but was in Hawaii and Vietnam hehe.
