Why Me?

I ain't perfect and will never be
Full of bemusement I asked, "Why me?"
I'm ridiculously busy... got no time
Couldn't even think of impeccable rhyme

Time stood still whenever I'm alone
Read your sweet messages on my phone
Guilt then slowly crawled into my system
Lump in my throat... a thorn on a rose stem

Never once was there when you needed me
I'm selfish with a soul painfully free
The undying question of "Why me?" arose
For society will certainly oppose

In my mind you deserve someone better
Leaving me? Undeniably clever!
Though it hurts to finally be apart
I will forever keep you in my heart

As for this poem... hmmn~ how do I put it???
I'm not sure if it's in my own perspective or someone else's... haha
I'm more of... "Why him??" type of person??? jk~
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it!

Thanks a lot for dropping by! :)

Very interesting poem! The flow is magnificent and some ideas explored in this are very key and thought-provoking. The line 'Lump in my throat... a thorn on a rose stem' specifically stands out to me and appeals to my poetic likings; roses are my muse. Thank you so much for this, and I will right away check out this contest. :)

Thanks a lot for your comment. :) I'm glad to know your thoughts on it! :D Please do... the more entries, the merrier! :) Steem on! ^^

You're welcome! :)

That's a great take on why me. Why him? A question I believe lots of woman should ask themselves.

I wonder if I have written this poem in his perspective... but my ideal perspective of him? Hihi.. Thanks for the opportunity @hopehuggs

Nice poem . Written from a free heart :) Thanks for sharing. :)
