The Writers' Block Poetry Contest # 2 Results and Contest #3

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

The Writers’ Block Poetry Contest (#twbpoetrycontest) is ready and thrilled to announce the WINNERS from the 2nd week’s contest. After that, we will also be presenting the prompt for week 3!

Once again, we had an amazing response in entries for week 2. Way to go Steem poets!

Our five judges, after some pretty tough decisions, have finally come up with the winners. But before we announce that, let’s take a moment to appreciate our fantastic judges, because without them, none of this would be possible:

@jrswab

And now for the winners:

Congratulations! It was so cool to see how the poem from the prompt inspired each of you in different ways. Check out the winners’ poems and give them some love!

The Writers’ Block Poetry Contest: Week 3

WRITING PROMPT: Write a poem in the style of your favorite professional poet. Make sure to name the poet whose style you are imitating in your post somewhere. If you’re having trouble getting started with this prompt, check out this awesome example of a poem inspired by a famous poet, written by one of our contest judges, @sunravelme. Do you see how her poem resembles E.E. Cummings’ work? The resemblance between the original poet’s work of your choosing and your entry for this week should be fairly identifiable.

  • Original work only. All plagiarized entries will be disqualified.
  • Unless designated by the prompt, the structure of the poem can be anything you like. Free verse, rhymed, and prose poetry are all 100% welcome.
  • One entry per person, per week.
  • Post your poem to your own blog to enter. The title of your post should be [the title of your poem - Writers Block Poetry Contest Week 3].
  • Tag your entry with #twbpoetrycontest
  • Post a link to your poem in the replies to this post.
  • This contest runs until 23:59 UTC / GMT Feb 10th.
  • The winner will receive 15 SBD. Second place will win 10 SBD and third will receive 7 SBD.

Good luck!

Once again, a super warm thank you to our wonderful sponsors @anomadsoul and @gmuxx for their generous support for this poetry contest, making it possible that the winners receive an SBD prize. If you feel so inclined, an easy way to show your gratitude to @gmuxx would be to vote for him as a witness! It’s such a simple and kind gesture for someone to show your support for someone who is so committed to the Steemit community.

Awesome, the bronze medal! Thank's for picking mine :-)

Thank you! And congratulations to the other winners as well!

Wow so amazed I came in second place it means so much to me being that I never viewed myself as a writer, author, or poet. Here is my entry for contest 3 https://steemit.com/poetry/@isteemithard/hunger-a-poem-in-the-style-of-jim-morrison-writers-block-poetry-contest-week-3

:) congratsssss you deserved it!

This is nice, greater motivation for an improvement in our writing skills, nice one, steem on!

Hi there. This comment is to let you know that your contest has been included in @moneyinfant's Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #11. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.

The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.

If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest list I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.

Have a Steemy Day!

P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

Thank you for organizing this contest! Below is my entry for Contest 3, which is a piece about patriotism and unity in my country, Malaysia.

I have written a poem in HINDI language,it will be considered in contest?

sorry, it's only in English :/

Awesome

Your challenge was added to Steemit Contest Compilation (05.02-11.02): Win free SBD and STEEM for current week.

Thank you @thewritersblock for giving Steemians (especially minnows) a chance to get free SBD.

Is it ok to enter a poem I have already posted? I wrote a poem a while back and posted it that is completely inspired by the style of a famous poet, i love it so much, but i totally understand if it needs to be written specially for the challenge. Thank you!

Thank you for featuring such fun reads & continuing to host inspiring contests, @thewritersblock!
