As the first rays of dawn lickThe dusty streets of Makokoba TownshipNoise already feels the atmosphereStench from the locked sewers feels the are.

As i stand on the veranda of my matchbox home,Clad in a thread bare attire,with an empty stomachI look over the horizonThe rising sun rejuvenates my inner being

In the midst of povertyI can stand my head held up highThough my inner being as witheredMy zeal to leave has departedI still stand

I stand against the obstacles in my pathAll of these my determined self shall bravely brush awayLike a phoenix i will rise from the ashesfly away so highDance in the air like a birdFor i have chosen freedom

In the midst of povertyeducation is my priorityEducation shall wash away my povertyIt shall be a shield that once attained ,will foreverShield my hide from the scorching raysof the sunFrom the storms and hungerThat awaits to devour my inner being

I shall stand against povertyAnd you my Fellow Brotherclimb a hill at day break and look onAs the first rays of the sun lick the groundAs it rises over the horizonyou know there is still hopeJust fly highLike an eagle and stand against all
