Defining Love

This was a comment entry to @mehdibca's contest. It didn't win, but I like it enough to share with you all. It was suggested that it might work well as a song, so I'm shouting out to #art-services here as well. If there's a musician that want to collaborate or use these as lyrics, let's chat about it!

Love is undefinable
By words or thoughts alone
For love transcends the mind
And sinks deeper than our bones

If you've ever seen the sunrise
With your lover at your side
Or ever held the hand
Of your parent, as they died

If you've ever cried alone
In the darkness of your room
Or held your breath in awe
To see a great big harvest moon

If you've ever smiled at a stranger
Or walked away in shame
Then love has been inside you
Though it might have felt like pain

Love is not just warm and fuzzy
Nor is it the opposite of hate
And it isn't just for those
Who have been somehow blessed by fate

Love is the in-breath and the out
And every moment in between
And especially that space
Where waking meets the dream

Love is why we hope
Love is why we pray
And I promise every one of you
Knows love in your own way
