Alzheimer's (Poem)

in poetry •  7 years ago

This poem arises one day when I was orbiting the word "Alzheimer" on my brain and there I remembered that one of my deceased grandmothers suffered from this desolate and distressing disease.

At the time of its writing it was very significant because it can reunite me with my past, it brought many memories, what opened my understanding, it allowed me to see and understand what touched the deteriorated walls of the blind oblivion and thus witness and appreciate the birth of a love towards whom I did not have in life.

Alzheimer's

That it awakens the conscience, that the memories that give meaning to the chronological incessar return.

It is the wounded solitude of helplessness, wound that deteriorates.

The clock no longer marks hours, nor heart beats, there is no crossing, only the stench of perpetual amnesia.
