Sprawling across the horizon

Dried up patches of grass and shrubs

Hanging on to the landscape

With their modified roots

Acacia trees of different age groups

Scattered about lovingly showing

Their evergreen luscious leaves

Smooth bald patches of stone face

All around you forming a magnifient pattern

Of mosaic to the discerning human eye

Your place in our history is preserved

You were a safe haven for my tribe

Against marauders centuries ago

You willingly supported both fauna and flora

Controlled the climate of adjacent lands

You are a wonder to behold

Your aesthetic prowess is out of this world

Your apparel in the dry season

Is reminiscent of a reluctant warrior

A royal robe to grace the wet season

A king for all seasons you are

A royal to generations of land dwellers.
