Out of the Desert
To my desert,
to my dreams
came a deep
luscious green;
joy in your oasis
my lips must part
to drink
a depth so full
my bones will sink,
bathing in the cool
rushing fountain o'erwash this parched, cracking flesh.
No well so pure can
e'er compare
no word, no hell repress
a desert sun that burned so long
I crawled through storms for this.

Wonderful final rhyme and image! This has such a classical feel to it - reminds me a little of the Romantics of the late 1800s, with their use of natural imagery to evoke personal feelings. Language as lush as the oasis itself :)
