Today I am reading After Drinking All Night With A Friend, We Go Out In A Boat At Dawn To See Who Can Write The Beat Poem by Robert Bly

I have seen Robert Bly perform several times, and I say "perform" because that's exactly what he does. He performs. He is not one of those poets stiffly reading with his/her nose in a book. He recites his poems from memory (as every poet should) and sometimes accompanies himself by playing the lute.

What Bly is best known for, lately, is his work with the mythopoetic men's movement, which was the focus of his book Iron John: A Book About Men (1990). Amazingly, this book of POETRY spent more than a year on the New York Times best sellers list.
