National Poetry Month — April 18th

Today I am reading Supermarket in California by Allen Ginsberg.

Ginsberg is perhaps the most widely known of the Beat poets of the 1940s and 1950s. In their work, these writers questioned politics, commented on social issues, and made cultural references in their work. They were more activist than poet.

Other Beats writers included Neal Cassady, Anne Waldman, Michael McClure, William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and Gregory Corso.
