I was going to wait to post this but after reading On The Edge of a Broken Dream by @royalrose I decided that today is a good day.

There are times when life is hard and you want to give up and just lay down. However something in you rises up, and keeps you going, even if it is at a crawl. I wrote The Tree during one of those times in my life. I hope this poen helps you as it has me.

The Tree

Though hurled upon by
Hurricane's blast, by Ocean's tempest beat down.
When Fury has flung her last assault, I will rise up for my roots run deep.
Though lightning cuts deep along my trunk, branches, leaves be stripped by hail,
When Fury loosens his last campaign, I will return for my roots run deep.
Though bit and felled by double blade axe,
charred, burned by
merciless fire,
When fury has
finished ravaging,
I will grow through the ashes
for my roots run deep.
