A Tether Holding Us to the Earth - Stream of Consciousness

a great hunger
for travel
to the outer limits
beyond the stars
to a new world

yet we are stuck
a rope
tethering us
to our home world
unable to flee
to escape

we hang on
as the rope
spins us away
the centripetal force
against our bodies
the intensity
never felt before
or since

as we flew through space
and time itself,
the past and future
blended into
an infinite facade
of splintering crystals

and yet we arrived
somehow someway
in the new home,
the new Earth,
and a new tether
tied us down.
