Introduction with Ray Manzarek cofounder of The Doors

“This collection of interconnected short stories is beautifully captured by a small cast of narrators. Tom Weiner portrays the dark spirit of a troubled serial killer known as the Freeway Slasher in the first story. His grim tone puts listeners on the edge of their seats throughout. Lucia Sherman steals the show with an expertly underplayed performance in which she offers the chilling character of Damon, a mysterious hitchhiker. The stories work well with each other, and the selection of narrators is perfect, each offering a new chapter to the tale in his or her own dramatic way. Emerson creates a thrilling ride down Interstate 40.” (see source links below) - L.B. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine

Read by Ray Manzarek, Jessica Robinson, Tom Weiner, Raymond Scully, Lucia Sherman, Ryan Farmer, and Paul Michael Garcia. Music by SIP.

Sharing the poem, Corporate America, for the first time publicly since the publication of my paperback Lost Angel (copyright 2005).

Note: The ideas in these poems formed in the late 1990s when Nirvana remained King, and a would be Jim Morrison for the next generation began a writing career on the streets of Southern California.

Military experience, followed with college training in a region that remains a political engine within the Federal Government of the United States of America.

And then 9/11. All the while a Native American feeling the aftermath of genocide.

And in the depths of this ethos managed to discover the audiobook industry, meet Ray Manzarek of the Doors, and have a contract to begin working with him that lasted until his departure from cancer.

The goal would have been to work with Ray, Robby, and John on my audiobook Lost Angel. To record these poems as they had done with the American Prayer album. The offer still stands with Robby and John . . .

Corporate America

I

The face of America is red clay.
We drive upon its high cheek bone hills.
Wallow through rivers that stretch like limbs
Out to sea.

There are scars of deep canyon crevices,
Luminous lake eyes,
Blooming cotton hair,
Smiling purple mountain ranges.

It’s all there to exploit
By people who never knew
The ones who loved this land
Before me and you.

Best regards,

Cyrus Emerson

I really enjoy this first poem, the geographical face of America is very well described with lots of texture, colors, sounds, and the ending is great, just a few words is enough to depict the Western exploitation and indifference to the Natives. Great job Cyrus :)

Thanks @cheetah for the sponsorship.

Man you need to give credits to that link when cheetah comes that is never a good thing ... That means you did not give credit to the original source. Well just to give you the heads up.

Credits to the link?

As long as Cheetah does not flag you, you are OK. In the future though, if you use the ">" before wording you already have elsewhere on the web, it will show Cheetah that you are quoting, even if just from your own work. We need to do it with our own work as well as with quotes from others, because Cheetah doesn't know the difference. LOL!

O. OK. That's good to know. So the quote from the article needs to be referenced with a web link?

That's what I usually do. Here's what the ">" before text shows up like. you may have seen it on other blogs:

Added: (see source links below)

After the "". Will that work you think?

Cheetah can't read links either. LOL! She's just a bot. The links are more for the benefit of humans. Best to show that the text is somewhere else on the web. in my example above I place the ">" without quotes in front pf the whole sentence that you see quoted. ;-)

Beware of Fishing Scams on links.

This is such a beautiful poem! I get really drawn into it, the descriptions are marvelous and I get very inspired by it! I love a good poem, it makes me want to write even more so that I can develop towards those things that I love. This poem is one of those! Well done!
