3 GUIDELINE POINTS IN CHOOSING THE BEST WORLD SPORT FOR YOUR KID
Have you ever come to a point in your life where your son/daughter-now almost teenagers-says to you: "I do not know what sports I must practice Everyone of my age is doing something and I dont know what to answer when they ask me"
This is a question that is not always easy to answer at the spur of the moment.
In the world-of sports there are so many choices and for each sport there is the best state-of-the-art equipment and if you really think about this, then this question should really not be so difficult to answer.
All of a sudden you realise that you have never paid attention to that side of your child's training and you also don't really know. What answer do you give to your child?
This was the question that I was confronted with many years ago and to be honest, I never thought of this before that day.
Of course, what immediately came to my mind was: Which sport in the world makes the most money! But is that really what matters?
We then had a discussion on the pros and cons of each sport which was played in the neighbourhood of course.
Many big-name sporting champions have their off-spring doing the same type of sport as they did;which most of the time works fine but it is not always a case of "like- parent -like -child" to make it to the top.
Different factors must be taken in consideration to make a decision and sometimes you have to come up with a quick answer-because kids can be very demanding.
If you do not see a clear, obvious decision, maybe you should ponder on the following criteria which might help:
1. Expense to start and maintain equipment for the specific sport type. Some sport types can have a VERY expensive capital layout to start with.
2.Physical condition of your child eg. height, weight, built, visual/hearing condition etc.
3. Logistics to sport facilities.
If you have watched and maybe noticed your child's interest in which-ever sport, that will obviously be the number one factor to take into consideration. If not, then there are various ways how you can help and motivate him in the right direction. Do not, repeat, do not try to force your child to go into whatever sport you like.
