Pokemon Go Tips and Cheats from an average player. Having problems spoofing location? Check this out.

Hello Everyone,

So this is my first page and first Steemit attempt so I figured it would be best to give information on things that I have found with the ever-so-popular Pokemon Go. This will be a progression post by the way.

First Thing First:

I do not advocate cheating, but if you want to make your game more interesting then my tips might be a little helpful. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge on Sprints network and I have Android software version 6.0.1 custom rom (rooted).

Spoofing Location:

So many of you have tried spoofing the location on your phone and you might have had some success, but not much right? While many iphone and android users have had success, I've literally had to jump through hoops to get location spoofing to work. Here is what I have done and also things I have noticed.

Spoofing App: FakeGPS (I use pro but I think many can get away with the free version)

Install the FakeGPS app and then go into settings on your phone. Go to 'About Device', then tap 'Build Number' 7 times so that you unlock 'Developer Options'. Go back to settings and then click 'Developer Options' scroll down until you see 'Mock Location App' and choose FakeGPS.

Second Step:

Go into Settings again and choose 'Privacy and Safety'. Click 'Location : ON' and make sure that the 'Locating Method' is set to 'GPS Only'.

Make sure Pokemon Go app is closed and open your FakeGPS or other GPS spoofing app of choice. Go into the settings of the app and if there is an Expert Mode turn it on. Choose a location of your choice and click start in the app to start spoofing.

Theoretically that should be all and you can open Pokemon Go preferably without wifi and only your cellular data turned on and things should work for most people. Myself not so much.

Tips: It turns out that I think the Pokemon Go app has figured out a way to tell if you are spoofing or not. When I used this method and went into the app, I would get "Can't Determine Device Location' error at the top. So I have had to take additional methods to get this to work.

Step 1: Install Xposed.

Go to XDA and search for the correct method of installing Xposed Framework. If you are using a Galaxy S6 or S6Edge then you can head over to this site
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960

Once installed, reboot your phone and wait for it to optimize your applications. Once done, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Install Mock Mock Locations

No I did not repeat myself. Search within Xposed Framework for the module 'Mock Mock Locations' version 1.2.1. Install this module and check to turn on. You will need to restart.

This module will prevent the Pokemon Go app from knowing that Mock Location is being used by your phone. Nintendo and Niantic has been very clever to implement this catch within their app, or maybe it is just the Samsung Phone. Either way this should help.

Step 3: Spoof Your Location

Once everything is installed and working, open FakeGPS or other app and spoof your location. Then open your Pokemon Go app and you should be able to use the app in the new location without that pesky 'Cant Determine Location' message. However, read below as to things I have found out.

Tips Regarding The Spoof:

It is my belief that Niantic has been able to effectively realize when people are spoofing based on their last login location to the server and how quickly they are moving. This is based on the fact that when I tried spoofing my location and jumped from say Pa to NY I would still be able to walk around (move location on spoofer and app) ,but when I encountered new Pokemon they would always run away when I tried to catch them. If I would get to a Pokestop and try to collect anything, nothing would happen. If say, I would turn the spoofer off and re enter the game with my real location the same thing would happen. Except after about 30 min or so, things would work properly again. So now we have a timer based bug or penalty for trying to spoof.

What I do then is say I want to only be in NY for a while. Close the Pokemon Go app and open your spoofer. Change your location to say NY for example and then leave your spoofer on that location for a while. Wait about 30 min or so and open pokemon go. You should be in your new location. Try to catch a pokemon or collect at a pokestop. If successful then things are working, if not then close the app and wait another 30 min for server to reset. This should be enough time for things to work.

Tip: When spoofing, try not to jump large distances in locations as this will alert the system of cheating.

I have been more successful doing this method than any other. Also, please note that all of this was by trial and error. I have only speculated on the server catches for cheating based on observation and not knowledge of Nintendo nor Niantic.

Egg Hatching:

So obviously you need to walk distance to hatch and egg. Well if you are spoofing like myself, then a quicker way is to spoof small distances within the game to decrease time it takes to hatch. What I mean is instead of moving several blocks in the game, say if you are in the city, then just move 1 - 1 1/2 blocks at a time within the spoofing app. This will prevent the game from not counting your distance based on location. For example, if you were to actually walk from point A to point B and not have the Pokemon Go app open and in real time and not background process, then it will not count your distance. If you keep the app open and switch between it and the spoofer keeping only small distances (say 50 meters or less) then it should not have a problem recognizing these changes as actual distance. This is also why I recommend the FakeGPS app. Whenever you switch to it and change the location, as soon as you press the start button on the app, it will take you back to the Pokemon Go app and walk that distance. It seems to be a great way to make huge leaps in the game.

Glitch/Freeze:

Ever encounter a pokemon, try to catch it and then have your game freeze or signal drop in the process? Well I have, and you usually have to force close the app. It seems that if you would have caught the pokemon (in the first place) in the game then it will show up in your pokemon caught inventory. If not, then if you stay patiently where you were, force closed the app, reopen and wait about a minute, that pokemon should reappear. I'm not sure, however if you get your pokeballs back. I will update that when I find out.

Thank you very much. I just found out about pokemon go like 3 or 4 days ago. Just got the spoofing to work yesterday and wanted to share. Just found out about Steem and this is the perfect place to share and get recognized so i figured what the heck. Thanks again.

I've been having a problem with this, whenever I spoof the location, it will jump back and forth between my original location and the one spoofed, has this ever happened to you?

It happened once to me when I forgot to set the mock location app in developer options. Make sure you did a complete reboot also and make sure that you dont have any other spoofing apps open. Make sure that your location settings are GPS only and not using both. The app tries to use more than just your GPS. Also, what phone and os are you using?
