Today the monthly Community Day in Pokémon GO took place. This time it featured the Hoenn Fire-type starter Torchic. With the Community Day Shiny Torchic, Combusken and Blaziken have now been added into the game. As an additional bonus for this Community Day we gained 3x Stardust on captures. So I definitely made sure to activate a few of my Star Pieces for an additional increase in Stardust. I did forget about it a few times thus I ended up using 3 or 4 instead of 6 Star Pieces throughout the event.
I came across several people I often see while playing Pokémon. A level 5 Raid would take place at the Houten Schip Gym about half an hour after the start of the event, so we made plans to do this Raid since we were there anyway and it's an EX-Raid Gym so we can possibly get an invite on the next round of EX-Raid invitations. We had to split for this Raid as we were with over 20.
After the Raid I became Lucky Friends with one of the people from my group that I often play together with. Which is the first time I become Lucky Friends with someone since the release of the feature. We decided to hold off our Lucky Trade until tomorrow or later next week as we would be rather busy trying to catch as many Torchic as possible.

About an hour into the event we were walking around in quite a group with some of the people we had done the Mesprit Raid with earlier, as we were all there to look for Torchic anyway. I then finally ran into my first Shiny Torchic. A little while later we sometimes had some people leave as they didn't have the time to continue playing so the group we walked around with became smaller. Then we saw some lightning and heard some thunder, so almost everyone decided to head home as it was about to rain really hard.

Only one person I often walk around with during these Community Day and I decided to stay. We got out of the rain near the cinema where I took this photo of the Torchic standing in the rain. We stayed here for a while and could often get the spawn from a nearby Pokéstop's Lure, but would have to go a bit into the rain to get in range for spinning it to get items. When the rain wasn't falling down as hard anymore we decided to walk a bit through it to get to the Werft Gym as we could be out of the rain then and we'd be able to spin items from the Gym while sometimes being in range for spawns from another nearby Pokéstop. Close to the end of the event a Level 5 Raid was gonna hatch here so we decided to do that one too.
When the event was over we still stayed there hiding from the rain for a while and started trading the Torchic with bad IVs for a chance to get better ones. The other account got a 98% IV and a 100% IV Torchic out of the trades!! Without any Torchic being Lucky.
I had only been able to catch 1 Shiny Torchic throughout the whole event, while the other account managed to catch 6. So I did a Special Trade to trade a Shiny Torchic so that I would have two and would be able to evolve one into Shiny Blaziken. One of the coming days I might do another trade like that so I can have Shiny Torchic, Combusken and Blaziken.

Evolving a Combusken into Blaziken during or up to one hour after the event gives Blaziken the Fire-type Charged Attack "Blast Burn". So after evolving a Shiny Torchic into Blaziken to have one with Blast Burn I also evolved my 96% IV Combusken into Blaziken. Currently I might not really find a lot of use yet for the Blaziken with Blast Burn so I won't power it up yet. I do have the Torchic Candy now in case I will find use for it to be able to immediately power it up to a high level.

Two months ago we had Treecko Community Day, so in two months in July we will have the Mudkip Community Day as Niantic always has another Pokémon featured in the Community Day between starters. Bagon was featured in last month's Community Day. I'm thinking that next month we might see Trapinch. What do you think?
How did your Torchic Community Day go?
