I found this Snorlax sleeping around and I had no Poké Flute to wake it up. Luckily it wasn't blocking the path as it was just sleeping on a big grass patch. So I could just walk around it.
Last night The Pokémon Company made several announcements. One of these announcements is about Pokémon Sleep. It's a new game app that will track a user's time sleeping and bring a gameplay experience unlike any other. They have consulted several Snorlax, a Pokémon known for sleeping most of the time, for developing the app. It is scheduled to be released sometime in 2020.
This announcement has come with a tie-in event on Pokémon GO. Where all wild Snorlax now appear sleeping on the map. When you encounter it you can also see it sleeping as you can see in the next picture. Once you've captured this sleeping Snorlax it will wake up again and be ready for battle! So if you want to take a picture of the sleeping Snorlax make sure to do it while trying to capture it.
The event will last until June 3. With the event a lot of Snorlax now appear in the wild. No news about the possibility for Shiny Snorlax. All of the Snorlax caught during this event will know the move fast attack move Yawn.
I have currently noticed a bug with these Snorlax. I throw a berry and the Snorlax breaks out of the Pokéball. Then I try to feed it a new berry but get error 26 that the item can't be used. When I throw another Pokéball it breaks out again and on the 3rd Pokéball throw it gets captured. After 2 Snorlax like this I decided to test it out. I threw a Pinap Berry and then threw a Pokéball. It broke out, so I threw another Pokéball out of which it also escaped and with the 3rd Pokéball it got captured. Rewarding me 6 Snorlax Candy thanks to the Pinap Berry. My Pokéball amount also didn't decrease from these two times it broke out. With every Snorlax I tried to catch this was the exact same. So it seems there is a bug with that capture. At least you don't lose any Pokéballs when it breaks free those two times. I do hope Niantic fixes this bug fast.
