Let's take a look at the Pokemon side of things, specifically the Champion of the 4th Generation's Snnoh region, Cynthia!
This card was introduced in Ultra Prism, and is a functional reprint of Professor Oak's New Theory (PONT). Like PONT was during its time, Cynthia will be one of few dominant draw Supporter cards in the format post 2018-2019 rotation. This, coupled with the ever decreasing supply of Ultra Prism, has boosted Cynthia's price to about $7 for the uncommon version.
Assuming Cynthia does not get a reprint or rerelease in sealed products, this price is likely to hold or increase as the 2018-2019 season progresses. It is highly unusual for an uncommon Standard-legal card in Pokemon to hit such a price so early in its lifetime, but this is one card worth investing in!
