As part of the Ultra Bonus event, 7km eggs have been featuring the possibility of hatching regional exclusive Pokemon from Generation 1 to assist trainers to complete their Pokedexes. I got off to a quick start as I immediately set to hatch all the eggs in my inventory. These were received before the event so no new Pokemons found there. However, the plan was to hatch most as the event started.
While I walked to hatch them, I also held off from opening gifted eggs as they do not drop if the egg inventory is full. However, as soon as they began to hatch, I started to open them. It seemed that with the event, it was more frequent to get an egg. So if I did, I immediately put them in an incubators and saved the rest until more hatched. There was a moment when I had one more space for eggs but no gifts to open so I also made sure I would not spin any PokeStops to not get any regular eggs.
While the strategy was successful for getting the eggs, I was disappointed that the hatches of these regional exclusive Pokemons were not more common. However, after 14 hatches I finally got the Pokemon I needed to complete the Kanto Pokedex from Generation 1, Kangaskhan!
I have since continued to do the same to take advantage of the event and get some more exclusives to have more available to trade to more of my friends trying to do thr same. However, I am still waiting to get some more.
