When you think about poker, you may not necessarily think about food. However, countless number of home poker games involve food. I remember the times of playing a weekly 1/2 NL Holdem cash game once a week, and everyone who came would always be interested in food. Sometimes we would order out, sometimes I would bring some homemade goodies for the group, and sometimes other players would bring munchies.

Even at casinos, poker rooms usually have their own exclusive menu. You've seen it, people place the order, then the waiter/waitress brings out a table, and the person is eating a club sandwich, or Chinese fried rice, while you are waiting for AA. You know you be looking at what they are eating...and who can blame you, poker is a game of hours, and in those hours, there isn't always time to eat.

Humans love to gamble. And humans love to eat. So why not combine the two?!

As a Lucksacks AFT segment, we will be sharing with you some simple recipes that you can whip up before your poker game. Whether you're playing at home, online, or maybe even anal enough to take your food to the casino (D.N. does it all the time), these dishes will surely bring you some happiness, even if your poker session doesn't...

Today's Starting Hand

57 They call this the 007, apparently it was the hand, suited, that Bond won with in Casino Royale. Incidentally, a great Bond film. 57 is also known as Heinz, for the Heinz 57 sauce. The movie is good, the sauce is good, but the hand, not so much. I mean, I guess if you're heads up go for it, but be ready to cut loose when that shit doesn't hit the flop. Not much EV. But hey, fuck it, it's just poker!!

Today's Dish

Jalapeno Mac & Cheese Ooey gooey, mac and cheesey. That's right everyone's favorite comfort food. There are so many variations of pasta dishes out there, and somehow people always come back to mac and cheese. I guess for some people it reminds them of their childhood, or perhaps makes them feel warm, and cozy, or maybe they just fucking love cheese...for whatever reason you have passion for mac & cheese, we understand.

Wait, how is jalapeno mac & cheese and 'The Heinz' the same thing? Let me tell you...

• Well fun fact, when I was young, I used to douse my mac & cheese in ketchup. Whether it was Heinz or not, I don't remember, but it was certainly ketchup. That's right, KETCHUP in my mac & cheese. It was damn yummy back then, now kinda gross.

Ingredients

• Boiled macaroni noodles
• Butter
• Garlic
• Jalapenos
• Flour
• Milk
• Cream cheese
• Cheddar cheese
• Parmesan cheese
• Salt and pepper

Pics & Recipe

Get your prep together. Don't toss the whole pasta box in the boiling water. Make sure to discard the box first.

Let that butter, jalapeno, and garlic sizzle.

Add the all purpose. Mix that shit.

Mix constantly for 2-3 mins, and the result will be a golden brown roux.

Add the milk, and bring to a simmer.

All the cheeses and spices make their entrance. Mix until cheese is melted. Add the cooked pasta and mix.

Transfer mac & cheese to oven safe pan. Cover with cheese. Bake that bitch for about 30 mins on 375

Ooooohh fuck, look at that cheese force field
