A poker-centric community content series, Poker Today highlights upcoming events, news & trends, and personalities within the Steem Poker community.
Poker Today was created to streamline current Steem Poker operations, increase awareness of Steem Poker on this platform and others, and raise support for ongoing community activities.
Run by @chiefmappster and @nicnas , the post payouts of Poker Today go to achieving these three main goals.
This Poker Today marks the ninth issue of the Poker Today content series.
Topics discussed in this issue of Poker Today are:
information and results from this past week's events from the @spl , Steem Pro Poker League, and the Weekly Thursday Steem Poker Tourney
information about the updated Team League standings
the introductory discussion of the Community Casino
the epic new website http://www.lucksacks.com thanks to the efforts of @tuck-fheman , @internetguy , and other @spl team members.
schedule and sign-up information about this week's events from the @spl , Steem Pro Poker League, and the Weekly Thursday Steem Poker Tourney
Three (3) awesome Steem Poker community events took place this past week.
First, the 50 SBD Steem Poker League Tourney was played five days ago on July 31st. The @spl is the premiere Steem Poker league that was founded by @tuck-fheman and @bigpchef and has paid out over 2800 SBD out to date to Steemians apart of the Steem Poker community.
One day us as a poker community will build two statues in your name ;) Thanks again @tuckf-theman and @bigbchef .
Twenty-one (21) Steemians took part in this epic poker tourney hosted by the @spl . This tournament was especially epic because Team Epic took down 3 of the top 10 spots. This literally might have been the most magical poker experience of my life. I am excited that really no on else but the people there got to witness it. Made some believers out of us. I ended up beating fellow teammate @nicnas for the victory and won 25 SBD.
Check out more coverage of the event with a write-up by @tuck-fheman here: https://steemit.com/poker/@tuck-fheman/completed-results-are-in-50-sbd-freeroll-poker-tournament-7-31-spl-winner-is
The seventh Steemit Poker Pro League Tourney was the most recent event played this past week by the Steem Poker community. Twenty-nine (29) Steemians battled out a grueling Pro League competition.
@ck-cake won her first every Pro League Game in this tourney. What an absolutely show of poker. Literally said: “I have no idea what I am doing.” Proves that anyone can win in the Pro League so join today. She took down @darkpsy604 heads-up winning 25 SBD for her efforts.
Check out more detailed analysis and coverage of the event here: https://steemit.com/poker/@tuck-fheman/steem-poker-pro-league-50-sbd-8-4-results-and-the-winner-is
The other event played by the Steem Poker community was the Weekly Thursday Steem Poker Tourney hosted by @chiefmappster
Twenty-eight (28) Steemians took part in the sixth Weekly Thursday Steem Poker Tourney hosted on the epic http://lucksacks.com the home of the @spl and Steemit's premiere poker portal.
Still looking for payout information so please reach out to me on Discord if you placed. Thank you.
Edit: winners have been paid. I apologize for the late payouts.

The second topic discussed in Poker Today is the Steem Poker Team League, an epic community-building idea that @tuck-ftheman and @bigpchef created. It really inspires team-building activities and a lot of fun. One of the best Poker-related ideas I have experienced.
The Team League competition encourages teams of three (3) Steemians to come together and finish the best they can in the remaining @spl and Pro League tournaments. Seven teams are now competing for a winner take all prize pool of 84 SBD.
Standings after today's tournament:
What an epic way to build a community and have a lot of fun in the process. Props to you guys. The ideas keep flowing from you two. I can’t wait to see how the Team League ends up and how you will continue the concept in the future.
Check out the team logos and members and more information about the Team League competition here: https://steemit.com/poker/@tuck-fheman/spl-team-up-leaderboard-current-standings
The Community Casino is the next top discussed in this issue of Poker Today.
One of the main goals of the Community Casino is to reinforce all the community spirit and bonds created by the Steem Poker community in an integrated off and online atmosphere. The Community Casino team has learned that “gambling” can fuel so much good if just done in the correct manner. No hiding rakes, no house dominated set-up. A true Community Casino where 50% goes directly to the community and 50% back to the team so it can reinvest to bring its long-term vision to fruition. We see Community Casinos in Las Vegas, Maccau, and other gambling and poker destinations.
What ideas do you have for an integrated community-based on and offline casino experience?
We look forward to hearing what table games, betting games, and card games you want to see in the Community Casino. The first online Community Casino goes live the end of September of this year.
The fourth topic discussed in Poker Today Issue 9 is the absolutely incredible update to the @spl ‘s premiere poker portal http://www.lucksacks.com .
WOW!!! @tuck-fheman , @internetguy , and @bigpchef , and @spl team you did work on this new site. Holy shit it looks and feels exactly how a poker portal should. You can easily sign up, lookat at account information, access game information, and even message between one another. It truly has so many features and functionality it blows my mind. Take some time and soak up this epic poker portal.
The new site as you can see also includes Pokertool.com. This amazing suite of tools set up by @internetguy also now keeps tracking of creative rankings and competitions that @internetguy has created to keep the Steem Poker community as interactive and interesting as possible. There is so much value on this platform it is absolutely ridiculous.
Thanks again @internetguy , @tuck-fheman , and @spl team for all the time, attention, and resources you put into building this Steem Poker community. You are much appreciated.
The fifth and final topic discussed in this issue of Poker Today is the schedule for this upcoming week's events.

This concludes Issue 9 of Poker Today. Stay tuned for Issue 10 in a few days.
Make sure to follow @spl, @tuck-fheman , @bigpchef , @chiefmappster, @internetguy , and @nicnas for information from some of the leaders of the Steem poker community.
