The Polish climate has opportunities to enjoy the four seasons and each has plenty attractions to offer for visitors. If you like walking, indoor activities, swimming, sun or winter sports choose the time to visit Poland that makes you feel at your best. If you choose Winter we suggest you go to the south and visit the Tatra Mountains!

The Polish mountains are in the southern part of the country. Mostly along the border from East to the West. You will find all the possible winter sports activities in this region.
Zakopane the town located in the Tatry Mountains is considered to be the Polish Winter Capital. Enjoy its modern skiing facilities from November till early April (depending on weather conditions of course).

Winter used to be quite cold with severe frost lasting for many weeks in the past. The last couple of years, including 2018, it seems the climate has changed and any snow seems to be abnormality to tell your grandchildren as it was a fairy-tale from the past. But expect temperatures around zero with the occasional severe cold episodes from December till end of February. If there is any region of Poland which still guarantees snow and winter activities it is Zakopane and the high Tatra!

How to get to Zakopane? The town is located just 80 kilometers south of Krakow. The fastest way to get there is to take buses departing from Krakow Main Bus station every hour. The trip can be long, up to 2 hours, even longer in peak hours or bad weather. The fast road to Zakopane is still under construction.
