How polarized lenses work?

Sunlight from the sun is scattered everywhere around us from all directions. It became polarization only when striking on the flat surfaces. Polarization is a physical process to transform the sunlight to vertical and horizontal rays right after reflection. Vertical rays are good to the eyes while the horizontal rays are known as glare to cause blurred vision and annoyance. Chemical filter built-in polarized lenses act as a smart gate to allow good light to pass through and eliminate horizontal rays to bring visual clarity to the glass wearers.

Advantages of wearing polarized sunglasses

It can be rightly said that there are immense benefits of using polarized sunglasses. We will discuss some of the relevant ones.
_They are mainly covered on the lens surfaces with a chemical coating that helps in protecting the eyes from intense sun glare.
_These coatings also help to bring a clear vision without eyestrain. Thus most of the people use them during various types of outdoor activities in reflective places like a lake, river, open water. Better vision and clearer view may help Athletes achieve higher performance levels.
_They also keep the eyes safe from ultraviolet rays. In other words, they provide the same benefits as UV sunglasses.
_Glare from road surfaces is blocked, this helps the drivers drive safely.

Disadvantages of wearing polarized sunglasses

Regarding glare protection, polarized sunglasses are greatly beneficial to protect the eyes and enhance visibility, but there are some drawbacks in some applications.
_Difficult for the machine operator to read LCD. It's challenging to view instructions from the liquid-crystal display (LCD). Thus polarized sunglasses are not appropriate for any application that require reading LCD panel.
_Difficult to distinguish between snow and ice. Polarized lenses can not tell the difference between white colors of snow and ice. In this situation, glare reflected from the ice is helpful to tell skiers where is the dangerous ice and control their path to safe places.
