Boulder officials said one person involved in a wreck at Valmont Road and Foothills Parkway has died, and police temporarily closed the intersection again Friday as they conduct further investigation.

According to a release, just before 4 p.m. Thursday a person driving a blue Toyota 4Runner was going southbound on Foothills Parkway when they crossed the median into the northbound lane and hit two vehicles, a dark green BMW and a white Toyota Rav4. One other vehicle suffered “peripheral damage.”

The 65 year-old woman driving the BMW was transported from the scene with serious injuries and later died at the hospital. The identity of the driver has not yet been released by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.

There were no other injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains open, and no charges have been filed at this time.

The intersection was closed for several hours Thursday afternoon before being reopened at about 8 p.m.

Police again closed the intersection Friday for a few hours as they conducted further investigation, but reopened the intersection just before 1 p.m.
