Charakterystyczne drewniane domki z desek, z reguły własnie w kolorze białym (czasami czerwone lub brązowe) są bardzo popularne w Norwegii. Praktycznie wszystkie mniejsze budynki zbudowane są w ten sposób. Nie zawsze wyglądają aż tak urokliwie, ale nadają charakteru zarówno norweskim miastom jak i wsiom.
