The uprising in ACEH began Tii/on September 20, 1953. begins with a declaration of proclamation of the establishment of the Islamic State of Indonesia by David Beureueh, the proclamation which declared that ACEH within the framework of the Islamic State of Indonesia (NII) under the leadership of the High priest of NII Sekarmadji Kartosoewirjo Rangers.
David Beureueh is a leader of civilians, religious and military in Aceh during the war of independence in Indonesia when the military aggression of the first Netherlands in mid-1947. As the "military governor of Aceh", he ruled the defence of Aceh and controlled the entire civil and military machinery of government. His role as an eminent cleric makes David Beureuh not difficult to win followers. In preparation for the launch of David Beureueh, the opposition movement has succeeded in influencing many officials of the ACEH government, particularly in the field of Pidie. In the early days after the proclamation of the NII Aceh and his followers successfully colonized most of the Aceh region, including some of the city.
Shortly after the break-up of the uprising, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, through Prime Minister Ali Sastroamidjojo, immediately gave an explanation in case of runut to the House of Representatives on 28 October 1953.
