India Walks out of Russian Stealt fighter project

in politics •  6 years ago

After a long effort to come to terms with Russia on jointly producing a 5th generation stealth fighter (known as the Sukhoi 57 and also T-50) India has finally thrown the towell in and quit. (see India Shelves FGFA Project- Where to Now?) It was not really unexpected, but nonetheless a bit of a shock. For India it means that if they want a stealt fighter they need to look at the F-35. For Moscow the implications are worse. It no longer appears capable of building a sofisticated weapons system like the FGFA.
