Our government never cease to shock and amaze me

I love my country and the people in it, but unfortunately it is not going very well at this stage, if you look at the crime rate and the economy and the prices of products and the unemployment rate.

I can carry on with the list - but it is better for my blood pressure to stop :)

We can put a lot of blame on our president and our government, but I do not want to go into that.

Sometimes one of the cabinet members says and do things that just shocks us or let us throw our hand in the air and shout

Now I am not one to believe everything that I read on the internet, but according to some news channels, our Minister of Education has said that children must rest over the holidays, not touch their books or use their brains too much, because it can cause brain cancer.

Again I can just ask

She goes on saying that she got this information from the internet.

I will have to get my kids off the internet immediately, before they start believing that they must stop reading or using their brains in order to avoid brain cancer. (I can think of a few kids in my class that will really take this information to heart, so lets not encourage them.)

This is really shocking to me (especially coming from a person who is suppose to be educated) and it makes me sad that our country is in the hands of incompetent people, but I am a born and bred South-African and I feel a lot of loyalty towards my country.

I do believe that things will get better in our country if we just keep on praying and believing that God will help us all.

But besides from all the crime and the goverment, that can really act like a circus sometimes, we still live in a beautiful country with wonderful people - more good than bad.

This is really scary to think that this is the person in charge of education.

I agree - pity she is not the only one

Hide your children.
