Clearing Confusion of the YEMEN WAR and U.S. INVOLVEMENT:

  • Arab Spring protests of various opposing groups ended the three term, 30 year presidency of President Saleh (not without outside influence).

  • The Saudi backed, President Hadi, took power.

  • President Hadi could not create a peaceful resolution, resigned, and fled to Saudi Arabia.

  • As peace seemed on its way in Yemen, Saudi Arabia began a bombing campaign to reinstate President Hadi in 2015.

  • United States, Britain, and few other Arab states have supported the war.

US involvement in the Yemen war includes selling and providing hundreds of millions of dollars in weaponry, refueling Saudi planes, providing intelligence, and performing airstrikes. This war was not authorized by congress, has strengthened Al Qaeda, and has claimed thousands of civilian lives.

Furthermore, the Saudis have been criticized for the deliberate targeting of civilians, blocking ports causing a food crisis, and blocking humanitarian aid. There is a bill waiting in the senate to end US involvement, but leadership is stalling it.

These are real lives, normal people like you and me. They are not pawns in a geopolitical game, someone needs to give them a voice.

Calling congress to end the war in Yemen is the best way to make a change. Script included: 1-833-786-7927

War does end badly for all sides. By our technological advancements so far we should have achieved global peace, though we humans are stupid just like other animals...

Morality and the way humans categorically think does not change as we technologically progress. The wars are different, the weapons take different forms, words take different names, but the fundamental truths do not change. We are different than animals because we have the unique ability to act. We can choose to go to war, we can choose to promote an ideology of peace, or we can stay silent and do nothing at all. Compared to the expanse of time our choice makes no impact, yet the choice is everything we become.
