Well, there are a lot of reasons.
The most popular reason that people have had for wanting the exit the country recently is the overturning of Roe v Wade.
Okay, you're not happy that the SCOTUS overturned that. If you live in a state that's heavily restrictive of abortion, it's a lot cheaper, faster, and easier to just move to another state. I don't know how so many people were threatening to move to Europe after the decision while not knowing that most of Europe has stricter abortion laws than a lot of states in this country.
I don't love that we have states like California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Illinois, which have their policies ass backwards. Still, we've created a nation that allows you to stay in the country while escaping those shit shows.
We're not perfect on free speech; but, we're the best in the world. I think that there might have been a small island nation to the north of Australia that technically had better free speech laws than us; but, in terms of big nations, we're the best. For all the attempts that Democrats have made to abridge free speech, we still haven't put anyone on trial for posting a video of a pug doing a Nazi salute. We still haven't frozen the bank accounts of peaceful protesters.
For all of this nation's flaws, we're clearly the best in the world in regard to respecting the right to self-defense. Even if you're an anti-gun person, I've gotta believe that most of you are on the side that women should be able to carry a taser or pepper spray if they so choose. In Canada, you go to jail for that. In most of Europe, you go to jail for that.
Yes, we have states in this country that, under the law, would throw a woman in prison for using a taser to stop a would-be rapist if she didn't try hard enough to run away. Again, you can move away from those states. Even if you don't want to move away from those states, they're still better than most of the world.
I'm never going to leave this country because I'm aware that the fight is to preserve what we have rather than uprooting what we have and trying to replace it.
I would like to fix a lot of things in this country. I also know that we're far enough away from anarcho-capitalism that we're not going to be having that serious conversation during my lifetime.
In the meantime, I'll relish my privilege of having been born here.
