He's just the latest of several prominent European politicians caught up in plagiarism scandals. President Biden, of course, famously plagiarized speeches by British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock during his first presidential campaign. The previous president (Trump) is the proud winner of the Politifact Lie of the Year Award. His predecessor (Obama) won the same award in 2013.
I know it's shocking to think it. But it's almost as if high political office tends to attract people who are dishonest. And, yes, all these other guys can still plausibly claim they don't lie and cheat as often as Trump. But that's like saying you deserve credit for being a nicer person than Jack the Ripper.
