Liberal bias in social media has once again reared its ugly face. Dozens of mid, & low level employees at CNN have been granted "verification" on their private Facebook profiles, while lead reporters and heads of alt media giants such as Breitbart News remain without checkmarks. "Verification", or what began as a tool to combat spam profiles masquerading as public figures, has evolved into yet another tool of online censorship. Verified members are favored by Facebooks comment system, catapulting their replies to the top of comment sections, massively extending their power of influence beyond the reach of the common, unverified user.
Facebooks current "Media Partnership" Leader is Andy Mitchell, a former CNN employee. Curiously, he is friends with CNN Head of Social Media, Samantha Barry. Perhaps this cozy relationship is to blame for the verification bias?

We have allowed Silicon Valley to insulate itself so deeply that they openly boast of their stranglehold over their users. Users that are sick of the establishment internet, and are desperately seeking a better platform, one that mirrors the impartialness of previous communicatory vehicles, like PAPER, or AIR, and nothing more. Vehicles like steem.it and similar platforms can conquer these traitors and sleazeballs we have surrendered too. We must make it so.

Pretty shocking stuff. But apparently private companies can act however they want.
