Last Sunday 11, Argentina had the PASO Elections, which stands for "Primary, Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory". The result was surprising.
The current president, Mauricio Macri representing "Juntos por el cambio" lost, getting 32,08% of the votes. He only won in Cordoba and CABA. And Alberto Fernández representing "Frente de Todos" won with 47,66% of the votes.
Actually, the results themselves weren't much of a surprise for the country's population, until we knew the BIG difference between the two candidates. This lead to fear and uncertainty about Argentina's future, as you can see in the sudden drop of it's currency value. That's way the Argentine peso lost around 30% of it's value on Monday 12.
Next elections, in which they choose their president for the next 4 years, are taking place on October 27. Until then, people have time to think what they want for their country and how they want to get there. The markets have spoken, and they better listen.
At the same time, the current president and his team have time to try to re-gain voters confidence to get the country back on track to the goal he promoted when he was just a candidate, reach no poverty.
Let me know in the comments below what you think will happen with Argentina in the next following months or years.
