Beavis and Butt-head have no idea what white privilege is when they arrive at college, but several class members are kind enough to explain it to them.Naturally, the duo decides to use this newly-discovered power, but things don’t go as planned.

Beavis and Butt-Head was one of those shows that I could never quite figure out if it was so stupid it was funny or just stupid. In any case, it probably reached the height of its popularity with their first movie, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.

Now another movie has come along, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe. The plot is hardly complicated and it is enough to know that they end up traveling in time from the 1990s to 2022. They wind up on a college campus and have "white privilege", a concept they would have never heard of, explained to them for the first time. They take it literally with hysterical results.

In typical Beavis and Butt-Head fashion, this movie is incredibly stupid. Yet, at least this aspect of it, also serves as a hysterical parody of the concept of "white privilege". Hopefully they don't get cancelled for it. And this brings me to what I guess is the most important point...

Regardless of whether or not the concepts of critical race theory and white privilege are accurate or correct philosophies, you should at least be able to debate the issues without being accused of being racist or silenced in some other way. Cancel culture bears more in common with a Stalinist regime than it does with a supposedly free society. If you can't debate the issues, it only serves to discredit your views.

overall I thought the movie was pretty lame but I really enjoyed that one scene about white privilege. It kind of perfectly exhibited some of the more absurd notions of our time.

"I can't believe I'm about to say this Beavis, but I'm really glad we went to college."
