Civil war is a resort to violence to resolve political differences, after discussion and negotiation have failed to produce compromise.
Civil War in China, Muslims vs. Buddhists
The Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves is a complex of Buddhist cave grottos dating from the 5th to 14th century at the north-east of the Taklamakan Desert near the ancient ruins of Gaochang in the Mutou Valley, a gorge in the Flaming Mountains, China.
The Buddhist Uyghurs of the Kingdom of Qocho and Turfan were converted to Islam by conquest during a ghazat (holy war) at the hands of the Muslim Chagatai Khanate ruler Khizr Khoja (r. 1389-1399). After being converted to Islam, the descendants of the previously Buddhist Uyghurs in Turfan failed to retain memory of their ancestral legacy Anti portrait Muslims had Buddhist portraits obliterated during the wars over hundreds of years in which Buddhism was replaced by Islam.
Civil War in Syria, Muslims vs Muslims
Much of Syria's cultural heritage has been damaged, destroyed or looted during the Syrian Civil War. Destroyed buildings include the minaret of the Great Mosque of Aleppo and the Al-Madina Souq.
The Islamic State destroyed the Lion of Al-lāt, the temples of Bel and Baalshamin, the Arch of Triumph and other sites in Palmyra. The group also destroyed the Monastery of St. Elian, the Armenian Genocide Memorial Church, and several ancient sculptures in the city of Raqqa.
Civil War in Russia, Secular Communism vs Religiosity
With the change in values imposed by communist ideology, the tradition of preservation was broken. Independent preservation societies, even those that defended only secular landmarks such as Moscow-based OIRU were disbanded by the end of the 1920s. A new anti-religious campaign, launched in 1929, coincided with collectivization of peasants; destruction of churches in the cities peaked around 1932. A number of churches were demolished, including the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow and St. Michael's Cathedral in Izhevsk.
In 1959 Nikita Khrushchev launched his anti-religious campaign. By 1964 over 10 thousand churches out of 20 thousand were shut down (mostly in rural areas) and many were demolished. Of 58 monasteries and convents operating in 1959, only sixteen remained by 1964; of Moscow's fifty churches operating in 1959, thirty were closed and six demolished.
Attempts to Ignite the NEXT Civil War in USA
Extreme Left Hooligans vs American Values (Democratic Process, Private Property Rights, Rule of Law)
The orgiastic glee with which protesters tore down, then beat up, a century-old monument to a generic Confederate soldier in Durham, N.C., this week was alarming. The mob seemed to have lost control of itself. The urge to destroy got out of hand very quickly, especially given the mixed signals sent by authorities. Durham police stood by and did nothing. Only the following day, after an outcry, did the sheriff announce he intended to seek charges.
Where does this end?
Quote from George Santayana: "Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"
This famous statement has produced many paraphrases and variants:
- Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
- Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes.
- Those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it.
- Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors are destined to repeat them.
- Those who do not know history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them.
This ends when Americans realize that American history cannot be changed. We cannot whitewash away the portions of our history that we now regret. We can only choose to learn from history. We can learn to NOT repeat the uglier parts of history.
When experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

Main stream media really wants a race war. Even the ACLU fought for the right of the history defenders to assemble. antifa is a terrorist organization. On the bright side, the msm has already guaranteed Trump's reelection with their hysterical racist propaganda.

Agreed on many points. MSM has been pushing race war stories for a long time. Antifa is a terrorist group, and the name follows Saul Alinksy to a tee, exact opposite of what the name would imply. There is no group more fascist, than the antifa.

We Should learn from the past and respect it because time is very strong and The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

Some wars are won without fighting. Ronald Reagan and the cold war as an example. But I believe that is more the exception than the rule. Trump and North Korea may follow same track, or Trump may choose to flatten the entire North Korea territory if they fire one more missile. The way to avoid war, is to be fully prepared to engage in total war as the alternative.

I feel like there's no end to violence between religions , class , governments , and it seems to get worse and worse as the years pass and so much hate builds between one another . Whatever happen to spreading peace ? Humanity ? This is total insanity !!

Perhaps the news cycle and social media are just making events more visible, while rate of events is not changing or increasing?

That may be a possibility because media is very much deceiving , what happens in front of your eyes and what is portrayed , varies

Often as a child I got to hear why history lessons where so important. Yet we humans keep doing the same thing over and over, pushing our believes and ideologies onto one another and growing up to "worship" the next standard of morals that been set up. I think it is about time we start to think for ourselves and respect each other for our differences...

I can't upvote a "good". It would set the wrong expectations on what constitutes useful and meaningful curation. Try harder if you want to curate. Else try less and safe yourself the hassle.

History teaches us that war is never won but always lost. There is just one who lost less then the other.
