It seems like an insulting waste of time for the courts and all of those involved when you haul a child into the courtroom over the issue of picking a flower from a yard.
Because of a case like this, and others like it, there are advocates who are trying to push the floor to change that minimum age requirement for juvenile court.
Picking a flower is one thing, but raising the age minimum because of cases like that, seems to also favor individuals then who might do something much more harmful to others and the community. There are children that have and can engage in violent acts, even at a young age. But placing children through the system over picking flowers is a waste of time and does more harm than good it would seem.
Some advocates say that therapy might be a better solution for some of the kids who are being put through the juvenile system.
A variety of advocates on this issue have been working hard to try and make that change, and get those age minimums raised eventually. But the question shouldn't only be what do they believe in at that age, like Santa or the Easter bunny, but more importantly what have they allegedly done that they are being accused of? Picking a flower doesn't seem to warrant court time when there are already backlogs and many cases that need to be seen which do involve serious crimes with victims in the community seeking remedy for those injustices. Meanwhile, they have to wait while a tulip picking case gets resolved.
