What No One Told You About Zuckerberg's Privacy Testimony

in politics •  7 years ago  (edited)

FINAL (1).jpg

As cringe-worthy as Mark Zuckerberg’s water-sipping testimony was last week on Capitol Hill, nothing can top how uncomfortably ignorant those parasitical politicians revealed themselves to be about… well, the internet.

The whole damn hearing was a charade proving exactly why the State is utterly incapable of effectively regulating private industries, for better or worse.

Take this exchange between Mark and some clueless, irrelevant Senator:

In a separate exchange, another professional thief asked Zucc if "emails sent through WhatsApp" can be intercepted through Facebook. Really?

And these are the morons, incompetent as they may be, grandstanding about saving us from… from this guy:

After two days of grilling, what were we left with? A bunch of awkward new Zuckerberg GIFs and some viral clips for Senators to pin on their own social media.

While hypocritical State officials may preach and lecture on the evils of Facebook’s privacy standards, the fact is the NSA continues collecting data from across the internet, and no one ever signed up for an NSA account.

It was like a scene straight out of Atlas Shrugged. And while Zuckerberg is no saint (perhaps not even a human), at least he’s an expert in an industry these political hacks can only pretend to know anything about.

The new statist fad and rallying cry is to start ramping up regulations on Facebook---all to be overseen by an army of unaccountable and corrupt technocrats that can barely operate a smartphone.

Technology is only going to advance more rapidly in the most disruptive, revolutionary ways. Soon, it’ll be happening so fast, lawmakers’ heads will spin--if they aren’t already.

My hope is that technology will soon make governments obsolete--cryptocurrency is already doing this (and of course they want to start regulating that, too).

In many ways, the world is evolving too fast now for archaic government systems to catch up. We here at TDV have been ahead of the curve, equipping subscribers with essential knowledge on burgeoning trends like Bitcoin, gold, and much more (subscribe HERE).

New services like Steemit and DTube are far better alternatives for social media than their mainstream counterparts, and even Zuckerberg understands what we’ve been saying about the destabilizing power of decentralized tech. Just look at what he said about crypto:

“There are important counter-trends to this -- like encryption and cryptocurrency -- that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people's hands. But they come with the risk of being harder to control.”

Yup, they are harder to control, and that’s exactly why they’ll prevail.

The investigation and hearing just felt like childs play

Great post!!
Cant wait till the day that Facebook is a thing of the past!
I spend maybe 30 minutes on there a week anymore.
Probably about 5 to 10 hours on Steemit a week.
Funny how Facebook isn't making its own cryptocoin and taking a huge advantage over other companies!
Upvoted Commented and Resteemed!

my thing is most of the questions were ultimately meaningless
he was not under oath in his first days testimony I don't know if he was later or not
also what is the point of the questions ? "did you guys sell peoples info" "yep" "ok well that sucks"
that really brought us to a new level didn't it? my bigger problem with social media is how they just censor ideas (mostly conservative) that THEY don't like
but they will leave hate speech or incitments of violence up if it comes from a left point of view
I don't really appreciate that. I realize censorship laws are to protecut us from government but my thing is if the govt shouldn't do something to you no one else really should either
and the govt got together to break up businesses before they need to have social media standards for what will and wont be removed and those standards need to be held to. otherwise social media is a brainwashing system.....

Hahaha i reallt think it would be hard for these guys to put mark zuckerberg down.

Funny enough, this similar case happened in one those bourne ultimate movies..just wanted to add that.

I think it would be hard at this point to totally scrap away facebook, but again, what do i know?

I agree, but facebook could be held to standards whereby they are not permitted to participate in brainwashing tactics.....

Great post. It's shocking how inept the politicians came across. These are the folks making decisions that affect lives everyday and now the whole world over has a glimpse of what this country suffers. I ended up liking Zuckerman in how he handled the questions. He kept a straight face while the politician exposed their incompetence.

The politicians are going to have to work hard to gain face. Sadly, many are probably too inept. I don't understand how they got to their positions.

Oh man it was a totally shit show for the government for reals. Those people need terms and to be replaced is something we really need to change. However the population needs a better education and an easier way to vote plus get the right information. Not sure if all of that will ever be possible but if it was this world would in fact be a much better place.

Agree with all the above! Time for a change!

Twitter next...

I feel that coming ! Gab or steem will take over! what platforms do you prefer ?

emails sent through WhatsApp can be intercepted through Facebook
that was a good one lol 😂

Mark Zuckerberg's was very hungry, Drinking water without getting food in front.......lol
But his smile is so sweet !!!

I think we are definitely seeing cultural shifts. I think they're going to start to catch steam (no pun intended). Also, those gifs are great haha

I've gone to Steemit FIRST when I get online, for several months now.

keep it up! ive smiled as i read this! i do the same

I like this news

.

Ironic as it is, this kinda made me like zucc more! Seems like a cool guy lol

Just came from your post about Bernie Sanders downvoting you, that post was amazing. Dropped a follow on your head!

But honestly, Zucc is a lizard. Don't listen to the lying bastards telling you he's a robot, this simply isn't true.

Im really unsure what i should think about this case. In one hand you have a government which is constantly spying on its people, now holding facebook accountable for the same thing.

On the other hand facebook is a private firm and can do whatever it likes and the free market should do the rest.

Facebook is horrible. That guy is creepy and he is a sold out.

So true! #HoldMyWater LOL

Really , you thougt and your post both are amazing. We are with you..

:D, it time to encourage more people to #deletefacebook and #joinsteemit, and the war has began since @stephenkendal has promoted to deletefacebook. That is what we need to do to kick their bottoms. Sorry if my comment bother you @dollarvigilante. Thank for sharing this across the steemit platform, I will re-steem it.

Best Regards
