Trump's message to corporate America - take the money and run!

I stopped reading the meme after the first line because it is misleading, yes they are laying off 4000 people but that was part of a restructuring that has been ongoing for years and overall they are hiring far more than 4000 people so in net they are hiring people. They don't need as big a landline division for some reason, because Trump?

So trump made it so the world doesn't need landlines? Oh, just like Gore invented the internet right...

Now you can say all that and you might even get a few people to believe it - I fortunately am not one of them...

I'll back up EVERY one of my assertions with actual numerical facts - how about you...

Where's your evidence - there must be some somewhere right... You appear quite confident about it so you must have studied AT&T's quarterly statements and their past announcements for "restructuring" - at least you read their business plans for the coming year and you know what you're saying is correct - right...

C'mon just 1 link to actual statistical, verifiable, numbers to prove what you say is accurate...

I'll be waiting...

thank god for Bing, as Paul Harvey used to say, and now we have the rest of the story:

AT&T t says it plans to cut about 4,600 jobs, or 1.5% of its workforce, to shift resources to growing parts of its business.
The nation's largest telecommunications provider said most of the layoffs will be among managers.
AT&T said the job cuts — affecting its wireline telephone business mostly in the United States in "non-customer-facing areas" — are part of its efforts to streamline the company.
The job cuts, which are on top of a three-year plan to cut 10,000 jobs announced at the end of last year, come as it faces declining traditional phone sales and rising costs for deploying new, high-speed Internet and video services.
"Even with the reductions announced today, we expect our head count overall to remain stable this year as we hire additional employees to support growth areas like wireless and TV," said spokesman Michael Coe.

Will you have yet another meme as a reply?

One newspaper add huh - really... That's your "evidence"?

I doubt you realize, but you basically proved my point. So here are some actual facts...

Lets go through this one item at a time:

  • The article and the quote states "a three-year plan to cut 10,000 jobs announced at the end of last year".. Think about what happened at the end of last year - tax plan maybe. So according to your own argument this is a restructuring caused by the tax plan.

These three pdf's from AT&T were published in 2015, 2016, and 2017 - Even after the Direct TV acquisition there was no talk of downsizing, or restructuring...

Please show me where it says there would be layoffs - I will willingly admit my error...

  • The article you used as your evidence also states "most of the layoffs will be among managers." - perhaps not blatantly false, but incredibly misleading.

On Friday, the Post reported that AT&T has recently laid off “215 high-skilled technician jobs in nine Southern states” and plans to fire nearly 700 workers in Texas and Missouri beginning in February.
“How can you lay people off and then give them $1,000 and say that there’s going to be more jobs available? I wish someone could tell me how that’s possible because I have to explain that to my members, and right now at this time of year, this is a difficult pill to swallow,” Joseph Blanco, president of Local 6360 Communication Workers of America Union in Kansas City, told Fox 4 on Thursday.

There is another quarterly report from 1/31/18 that I haven't gone through yet - i'm quite sure I will find contradictions with last years reports... My point with that is not to just trust a single source - c'mon especially not the company spokesman...

That guy is probably one of the cable TV or landline installers, why do you think they need fewer cable TV installers?
is it because of Donald Trump as the meme asserts?

In typical trumpanzee fashion you ignore facts and fail to address the actual issue - READ the quote, it says nothing about a "guy", it refers to 700 highly skilled workers... I guess if that's your best argument, you're just wasting my time...

"trumpanzee" is that what you call yourself?
a guy: Joseph Blanco, president of Local 6360 Communication Workers of America Union in Kansas City
So "trumpanzee", what do you think that the guys in that union do?
