What Happened To Blue Dog Democrats?

The Democrat Party Has Swung Far Left

Are blue dog Democrats extinct? It sure looks that way. The last one I remember was Zell Miller who was a Senator from Georgia from 2000 to 2005.

Zell Miller is a patriotic American, former marine, and former history teacher. He also retired in 1999 as the most popular governor in Georgia history with 85 percent approval ratings. He spoke in support of George W. Bush and critically of John Kerry during the 2004 presidential election. He supported military spending, and said, as Reagan did, that the Democrat party had left him, and described Democrats as captives of the "loony left." As a governor who supported abortion rights, eventually he became an opponent of abortion. As governor he invited the Gay Games to Atlanta, but eventually supported a constitutional amendment against gay marriage. He even chastised Democratic presidential nominee John F. Kerry for opposing prayer in schools.

Can you imagine any Democrat politician today standing for any of those things? Today we have the likes of Democrat Bernie Sanders who is openly socialistic! Even Obama had to pretend to be opposed to gay marriage before suddenly changing his mind on the issue once elected. Anyone remember when Kerry was for the Iraq war before he was against it? (good ol' flip-flop Kerry)

Today's ultra liberal Democrat party has to lie to get votes. Every Democrat politician acts patriotic for the cameras, but once elected slashes military spending without fail, derides America in speeches overseas, and refers to conservative Americans as "bitter clingers" because 'they cling to guns or religion.' Remember when Michelle Obama remarked that she had finally become proud of her country for the first time only after her husband had been elected? How about when she said, “It's easier to hold onto your own stereotypes and misconceptions, it makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That's America?"

The Obamas constantly stoked racial tensions while originally having presented themselves as unifiers. Hillary Clinton constantly stoked gender tensions while presenting herself as wanting to represent all Americans (but then called half the population 'Deplorables.') I recall back in the nineties Bill Clinton and Al Gore having difficulty identifying the forefathers. I recall Hillary and the Democrats standing and applauding when George W. Bush spoke about the failure to privatize Social Security in one of his State of the Union addresses (2005 I believe). I recall in the third debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney when Romney stated that, "...our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917." Obama made the jab, "Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military's changed."

The Democrats have always been pro United Nations, which is notoriously governed by deplorable leaders and nations who despise the U.S. and Israel. I recall Obama treating our allies like Benjamin Netanyahu and Tony Blair like crap all the while sending billions of dollars to enemy states. He also made an egregiously horrible deal with Iran vis-a-vis nuclear capabilities. I still do not understand why Obama was having NASA focus on Muslim outreach.

When was the last time a Democrat politician said anything resembling John F. Kennedy's remark, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country?” When was the last time the Democrats extolled the virtues of hard work, do it yourself, get off the dole, learn the language, take personal responsibility, don't make excuses, praised the nuclear family, etc. (I could literally go on all day).

They always want to raise taxes, never lower them. They always want more and more taxpayer's dollars for entitlements, never cutbacks. They insist on more and more power for the federal government (the ironically named Affordable Care Act).

Everything they stand for is antithetical to what most Americans want, which is yet another reason they promote unfettered illegal immigration. So, basically they lie to get elected, and then do whatever they want, which most of the time is not in America's best interest. I am more of the mindset of Henry David Thoreau who said in Civil Disobedience, "The best government is that which governs least."
