The politics of today, a mockery to yesterday's democracy

Yesterday, we witnessed a dramatic turn of events in the Nigerian political history. We realized that being educated is not just complete without having knowledge.

In the history of democracy, one thing is known which is diplomacy and tact for any democratic political office holder. Anything short of that is dictatorship and tyranny. How can people live in a country where abuse of power is openly condoned?

Democracy gives room for all the three arms of the government to exercise respective power and responsibilities both independently and jointly without one arm of the government subduing another arm or disrespecting its authority.

What happens when democracy becomes dictatorship? The people stop following and the nation falls into disarray.
I believe I cannot over emphasize the importance of democracy and diplomacy in this modern age.

We have witnessed a significant growth in the values of democracy and it will be a shame to allow anybody, no matter the race, religion or nationality, trample on the values of democracy it has gained over the years.

No man is greater than an entire nation and everyone deserves to reap the dividend of democracy.
A leader who refuses to accept criticism and challenge and instead uses the available means at his/her disposal to stifle the news and blackmail opposing voices into submission in a democratic setting is nothing but a tyrant.

We have to understand that there is a difference between making moves for progress despite fault and cracks left behind by a past administration and continual finger pointing and name calling. The difference between these two sets of people is defined as a leader.

As a leader, if everything failed in the past, why not try to fix it instead of blaming the past for the past?
Were you elected to blame or to work? Right now the strategy is clear; impoverish the people so that they continually have to beg for hand me downs, that way you can win elections.

What do you call a situation when 40,000 armed police officers were deployed to a single state just for elections in that state?
What do you call a situation when billions of naira was set aside just for election bribe in an administration "dedicated" to fighting corruption?

If a child fails a particular class, he repeats, but if an adult fails to lead, he vacates.
What is the essence of leadership if nobody wants you there? A leader who is trapped by past ideologies without a future goal is truly a clueless one.

A leader who had to canvass for elections outside the shores of his country is suffering from inferiority complex.
A man who refused to do a presidential debate but wants to lead is nothing but a nonentity. A president who has zero knowledge of important political figures and acronyms is not a man of the people.

For any nation to grow, sacrifices have to be made and I believe it is about time we decide to take the right path.
It won't grow when the wrong people are appointed into political offices. An English teacher might know a litlle bit kf mathematics, but does that make him a certified mathematician?

The Troublers of every society are not really the Oppressors. It is the Oppressed who for whatever reason are still stuck in Love with their Oppressors. The pain of this country at this point in time are the #SaiBabarians

Do you have some political ambition? @ehiboss
If yes..
I do hope that one day when YOU become our LEADER, please do everything possible to AVOID MEDIOCRITY like a PLAGUE. NEVER EVER assemble a Team with anyone of LOW:
IQ- Intelligence Quotient
EQ- Emotional Quotient
LQ- Love Quotient."

Wow, those quotients are...
The truth is we can blame the masses and at the same time we can't blame them. In a situation where some dwell in abject poverty and hunger with little access to free education which isn't free, tell me how they wouldn't become willing tools for manipulation?

In a situation where those in power live in a world of fantasies and false sense of achievement with zero tolerance for opposition, how can growth occur?

Greed tempts the man who lacks self control, whereas the contented man, knows that everything he needs will come his way.
So many things accepted as norm today are just wrong.

It's sad how perverted people get when power is involved. You deserve a government that lets people live in freedom.

Exactly!
Unfortunately, I get astonished on how a previous dictator could win election on a disguise as a change agent by votes from the masses yet, he claims democracy was his watch word.

We need to work as a unit to get the government we deserve. Sadly, after making plans, some people will become sellouts who betray the movement for real change.

The people keep recycling the same old crooks under new party names or new tactics.

Worse part is that they try to make us choose between the lesser of two evils, why must we even choose any evil at all?

I regret voting for this man, a man that calls himself the president of a nation and wouldn't do anything about the killings of the innocents that are matyre by the fulani jihadist. This is sad, come 2019 I pray Nigerians open their eye to vote the right person.

Thanks 4 sharing @ehiboss

40,000 policemen deployed for Ekiti elections alone, aside that, innocent soldiers are dying due to lack of ammunition or fire power yet billions can be guzzled up for elections.

They tell us to pray for a change and yet they cannot even act on the change promised.

Certain factions are declared terrorists while the real killers roam free with their Cattle and guns.
I never voted for him because I saw through his facade.

thanks for this article @ehiboss, according to harold laski, he said

politics is the madness of many for the benefit of the few.

Nigeria has got a long way to go when it comes to playing politics. I'm sorry to say this but why will old men already in their 80's be in a tactical and strategic position like presidency, they do not fit in to the trends of now and that of the future cus of their anachronistic kind of lifestyle.
~~ my opinion!

This time around, let us channel the madness of the many towards the benefit of all.

hahahaha, i love ur statement!

great writing...you have a great writing experience

Thank you.

A well articulated article, but the fact still remains. Our political elites all together are but a part of the problem, we the citizens have our part to play. We need to decide that our future is more important than #4,000.

This administration has openly shown that it is not only clueless as to how to fix the things that are broken but in its attempt to fix it has ended up causing more damage and yet there are still citizens blinded by either party politics or religion or mere likeness for the man in power have chosen to adamantly defend his government.

God will help us even as we fight for the change we seek.

Do you know why they can remain impervious to the many voices of condemnation of their actions? Because they have successfully impoverished Nigerians to the point of penury with their economic policies, hence, now easy to put a price to their votes.

You got that right, elections get manipulated four years before the time.

You are right there they're policies or lack there of has impoverished the people but the point remains until we are willing to think beyond, me myself and I we will not see the change we seek

We need to decide that our future is more important than #4,000.

Please tell them. Sadly, we will shout online and do nothing or the same thing once election approaches.

These are the harsh realities! Where the mass populace is either uneducated, or unwilling to change the status quo and their sheer numbers will drown out the voices of those that seek for a change.
