Interparty Democrat rivalries are weird.

The country is nearing $30t in debt, we're running over $3t deficits with no end in sight, our debt to GDP ratio is over 125%, existing entitlements are paying out more than they're taking in, interest on the debt is now the fourth largest category of federal government spending even with low interest rates...

And the Democratic controlled Congress is at a logjam, disagreeing on the particulars of the two bills their President wants passed. One side wants to spend trillions of dollars Congress doesn't have, and the other wants to spend several trillions of dollars Congress doesn't have... and they're struggling to find an acceptable compromise.

They aren't going to agree on entitlement reform or cutting the military but they can certainly agree in-party on raising taxes. Yes, tax hikes are inevitable, the real question is what form they'll take?

If only instead of raising taxes, they grew the productive part of the economy by allowing workers to cross an imaginary line to work here and pay taxes here. That said, I do think there's plenty of shipping containers in Southern Cali that 17,000 Haitians could work on unloading.

Totally unrelated, but I just made my second full 24 hours of sobriety since October of 2019.

I'm fluctuating between feeling good and healthy, and feeling like there's no way i'll make all of October. The withdrawal is real.
