Jose Alejandrino: Marawi updatesteemCreated with Sketch.

As of August 1, the AFP said 502 terrorists have been killed in the battle for Marawi. Sadly, we lost 114 of our brave soldiers.

Some 40-50 terrorists are still fighting. This means there were a total of 550 terrorists holed up in Marawi. My original estimate was about 500.

Three other areas in Mindanao are being monitored as possible hotspots where terrorists may attack. If the Indonesian Intel is correct, there are 1,200 terrorists operating in our country. This was the figure cited by the Indonesian defense chief at the security forum in Singapore. With 504 terrorists dead in Marawi and another 40-50 remaining there, this leaves a balance of 650 circulating in other areas in Mindanao. How many of them are ISIS foreign terrorists, do we know?

If the siege of Marawi took this long, it was most likely due to the presence of ISIS foreign terrorists trained in urban warfare in Syria and Iraq. I don't think the Mautes by themselves would have held out this long. What is clear is that the Marawi episode had been planned a long time ago. They were just waiting for the right time to strike and they chose the moment when the president was in Moscow.

Trillanes said something would happen in May. How did he know in advance?

Was there a conspiracy by the LP (Liberal Party), the Mautes, and Joma Sison? If so, how deep is that conspiracy? So many questions, so few answers.

This is one of my Facebook feeds today.

As a recap, President Duterte declared Martial Law in Marawi City last May 23rd...approved only for 60 days. Till now, the rebels have  not been subdued due to some people that have been taken hostaged inside the City. With no other recourse, the congress gave further extension and the President have extended Martial Law to the whole Mindanao, the home for a lot of rebel groups seeking autonomy.

Payouts from previous articles that I have posted  of President Duterte supporters will be donated to @steemph to start with. I believe that our disadvantaged and abandoned Filipinos need them more than my travel expenditures.

Fighting!

There are past attacks already in Mindanao like the Davao bombings and the president just acted appropriately to nip the budding terrorism that could destroy the whole of Philippines if left unabated.

Is it true that some rebel groups in Mindanao are starting to cause havoc as well??

The Maute group which was a rogue group that splintered from MILF had joined with the foreign terrorists. They share the common goal now with ISIS.
But all these Muslims especially in Marawi actually are anti-Christians generally and it is not surprising because one teaching of Islam is to terrorize their enemies. Muslims views other religions as "infidels" therefore, enemies.
The question of when will these groups join isis is just a matter of time. If they will all be sponsored by Saudi etc. then it will be like Syria in Mindanao. So thank God PH is an island nation at least the sea between the islands are every island's first line of hurdle for these terrorists.

True Muslims are peaceful...i learnt that in Saudi. A Muslim claiming non-Muslims are infidels is not a true Muslim.
