The past week has been marked by a series of dramatic events. The recent tragedy in Minnesota and the riots that continued in Minneapolis and several American cities only add to concerns about the COVID-19 epidemic and the disastrous economic fallout.

.

When one comments hot, it is very difficult to resist the temptation to be particularly pessimistic. American power is in decline, more isolated than ever on the international scene and torn apart by a multitude of internal conflicts. The withdrawal from WHO is still fresh in the public mind. Rather than addressing the whole nation during this troubled time, the American president only thinks of his supporters by behaving like the worst of them.
.

"An internet troll is a Person who relentlessly publishes voluntarily provocative messages on the internet in order to raise controversies and upset the balance of a given community."
In my opinion the American president is behaving like an internet troll and i say this without apology.
.

Do you know a better description of Donald Trump's use of Twitter and Facebook? Since entering the 2015 election campaign, he has relayed the worst conspiracy theories many times. Very popular on disreputable platforms, it has given a voice and an enormous power to those who worked until then in the shadows or the margins.
.

This week, the president "outdid himself" and forced the hand of the leaders of Twitter. Not only did he convey stupidities about postal voting and accused a TV host whom he disliked of murder, but, last night, he flatly called for violence.
.

A champion of diversion, Donald Trump knows how to raise controversy to divert the spotlight from real problems. If it was only a matter of playing with the media, it would already be a lesser evil. Where the vase overflows is when it behaves like an arsonist.

I will save you here a long list of all irresponsible words that only target division and encourage hatred, to focus on his most recent. In response to the riots, the president said: "... when the looting starts, the shooting starts". We could translate by: when the looting begins, we open fire. Twitter intervened in the next half hour. The formula used recalls that of the mayor of Miami in 1967. This declaration had led to racial riots.
.

No one will deny that the riots cannot be tolerated. The city's mayor and the governor, both Democrats, manage a particularly volatile situation against the backdrop of racial confrontation. The president is generally the one who, while offering the support of the federal forces, calls for calm.
.

The have not long expected a measured response from Donald Trump. However reprehensible they are, the riots are once again explained by the disgust of the black community. There is no shortage of statistics to support their outrage.
.

Have you recently studied statistics concerning minorities, particularly the black minority? A complex situation, but marked with the seal of discrimination. The police are too often placed in a position where they are asked to solve an economic, political or social program issue.
.

Faced with the inaction or insufficiency of many decision makers, it is the police who are found in the news reports. They are too often trapped and, it must be recognized, some of them seriously slip, as it seems to be the case in Minnesota.
.

This presidency will, on many occasions, have tested the limits of presidential power in any way possible. This week, it is rather the limits of freedom of expression that are tested. Is the President just one among many? Can he say or do whatever he wants?
.

With what is going on right now, there is every likelihood for voters to respond in November. But will there still be room for theoretical debates to sway the people? Will history once again be repeated? Will the responses touch on Donald Trump's potential successors? Only time will tell and it is almost upon us.
.
