Catastrophizing politics.

So I posted a couple of days ago about how both political parties talk about how it is the end of the world if they lose.

I think people may be missing the point.

This type of catastrophizing is common in our political reality. A great way to motivate people to vote. But it also leads to the dehumanization of our political outgroup. Folks, do not let the D or the R manipulate you into hate. Vote the way you want but know that people disagree with you generally do so because they legitimately feel that their person is better for the job.

On November 6, or soon thereafter, half of the county will feel let down by the electoral results. Nothing wrong with that as those people think that the person who lost would do a better job running the country. But if you go around thinking that all of our free speech rights will be stripped away or that democracy is going to end then you have bought the "misinformation" that your political ingroup has given to you. Do not accept that. Work towards a better outcome in the next election but do not fall into hatred and dehumanization due to the results of this one.
