I have to say I'm a little annoyed with some of the rhetoric being shared by the alternative media. Now, this is not me saying that the message mainstream is putting out there is any good, but I have little expectations on that particular department to begin with. so there is possibly no way they can disappoint me at this point.

There is a Crisis in Venezuela
That is not deniable anymore, and I don't care how anyone "feels" about it, because this is not a conversation about feelings, it's a conversation about observable facts. How the country got there, well, that can be a nuanced conversation and it's certainly layered, but to state that every negative press being put out there is fabricated so that the US can invade them is literally ridiculous.
Please note, I'm not saying I'm for the US invading Venezuela or helping the orchestration of a political coup d'état and this is precisely why this is such a point of frustration for me. These are not exclusive positions. To say that Venezuelans need help, does not mean that I am for America to occupy the country and "re-instate" as they call it, democracy.
Political Games
The most disgusting element for me is not even the false dichotomy being put forth, but the fact that this situation is basically a chess game where the risk is not losing a bishop, but losing lives. All that I can see is a government who wants to look like the heroes and will not try alternative ways of getting help to the Venezuelan people (they could be giving the aid shipments to the green cross), and a dictator who is adamant in not accepting help, to show that he won't bend a knee.
Is easy for the people in power here to sit on their high horses and state their cases meanwhile people are literally foraging for food in the trash. That is not hearsay, that has been documented, and the anecdotal video of a supermarket in Caracas, does not change the reality for thousands of people in the country. Mind you, a video that shows that even if the items are available, most people can't afford it anyways, having a bag of dog food cost as much as 4 months of a worker's salary.
Shut up, seriously
This is not a left wing / right wing battle of ideas. These are real people that don't have the luxury of seeing who is holding on to the correct ideology at this point in time. And if you are part of the alt-left (as I'm going to call them now) who is through some logical contorsionism still praising Maduro, please talk to someone who actually lives in Venezuela and wake up. It's too easy to talk about how beautiful communism is, when you are browsing twitter on a brand new Iphone.
End of rant
I've read so much articles discussing both sides of the coin, watched documentaries and analysis of "experts" about the root cause, current situation and solution to the Venezuela crisis and short of blaming aliens most point fingers at each other.
Yet a lot of these couch analysis and people in their ivory towers is simply looking at the numbers and projections and neglecting to look at them as human beings with the right to live and prosper.
Then with the American "intention" no doubt to liberate and save the oil.

Word! People are concerned with left wing right wing bullshit, meanwhile, people are dying and the country is in a spiral of oppression, depression, war, famine, and you know something about spirals? They never end and only get worse... I don't really know how we can help them without invading tbh, last time my country had a dictator in place it took a few years(41 years xD) but the whole country rebelled against the dictator, the army didn't even try to help the state, they just let the mob pass through, it was the most peaceful revolution that probably ever happened in the world's history, 4 dead people and 50 injured! But I guess the Venezuelan people don't really have this luxury, the country is split apart between the different "candidates", some because they have to others because they want to, there isn't a consensus...

I was very sad to see a friend of mine spreading disinfo that could lead to more people dying.
If you don't understand Venezuela (and most people don't), you shouldn't be talking about it, you should be reading and learning. Most people have somebody else's opinion, and go running off to spread it to others, without even really thinking about it.
I definitely agree with you, especially about "shut up, seriously".
(that's my rant!)
I've been running a project called Mission Agua-Possible which is going to bring water back to a devastated Venezuelan village. We're on week 24 now. I've spoken with many Venezuelans and I've also been independently researching their economy and politics for a few years. I'm no expert whatsoever, but my opinion is at least somewhat informed. I know obvious bullshit when I see it, and that fake vlog report of a grocery store was bullshit.
We should refuse to participate in the proxy war of Russia and USA. Both are corrupt and evil superpowers with little credibility. Neither should be preparing for battle in Venezuela. We should support the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people and recognize their right to establish a government of their choosing.

Imagine if some vlogger went to a grocery store in Yemen, or Syria, or Gaza, and photographed food, saying things like "what crisis?" and "where's the scarcity?"
99.99% of Venezuelans have no access to the food shown in that clip, yet the vlogger is singing about 'roley poley fish heads' and claiming there's no crisis. It's irresponsible journalism, at best. Dangerous propaganda at worst.

People are just too caught up with political ideology until they forget basic humanity. Left or Right, no one should die from hunger.

There are 1 million Canadians starving here in Canada (out of about 35 million total). It's definitely a worldwide problem. Over 1 billion humans are starving.

I agree, this is not a left vs right issue, this is a authoritarianism vs democracy issue.
We know the opposition are not heroes but they are all we have to fight against Maduro, some people (misinformed, brainwashed people) will claim that this is a extreme right wing coup but the truth is, 95% of opposition parties are left leaning as well, I even dare to say that they lean to the left more than the democratic party in the US and Juan Guaido comes from Voluntad Popular, the post radical progressive left leaning party in the country after the PSUV.
Others try to claim is a white supremacist coup, again WRONG, anyone that knows anything about the countries in northern south america, mostly Colombia, Venezuela and probably Ecuador is that the concept of Racism doesn't really exist there on the same sense as it does in the USA.
I'm Venezuelan feel free to ask me anything about the current situation.

It's called humanity 😑 it's a real shame what goes on in other parts of the world. I have been watching a documentary on the USA and it really opens ur eyes to how much our few people and corporation s have manipulated the world and still do.

My experience with this ordeal has been even more strange.
I'm being accused of supporting Maduro because of the claims I make against the American government.
Yeah, it's not mutually exclusive, they can both be dumpster fires.
All governments are simply a different shade of totalitarianism. There is no capitalism; there is no communism; there is no socialism. This is a worldwide corporate / central-banking oligarchy. Money rules everything, no matter what the puppets tell us.
This is why crypto exists in the first place. It provides an escape from these self-cannibalizing top-heavy power structures. We simply haven't evolved enough to make a real difference in the world, yet.
In any case, there isn't much we can do. Steem is not strong enough to support the people of a country who are being attacked from the inside and out.
However, I think one day it will be. Will Steem one day become the champion of the downtrodden? One can hope.

I've been reading about the Cold War recently. My current book is about Edward Lansdale, who was active in the Philippines and Vietnam. I sure hope that there are students of the Cold War in positions of power right now. The global situation is starting to look a lot like 1960 again.

The situation in Venezuela does not get any better. I am very sad for the people who are the victims of this mess. Politics suck big time.

It is crazy how the political and economic issues impact our ability to look at the human aspect of it as there are no real lines on land only on maps. Very sad that we can allow this to happen and still criticize those trying to do something about it.
