Operation Gladio was a secret NATO plan to perpetrate a series of false flag terror attacks to undermine the possible threat of communism in Europe. Revealed in a series of court cases in the mid 1980's and officially declared in both the Italian and European parliaments in the early 1990's, the disclosure of Operation Gladio proves that government have committed acts of terrorism against their own populations.
Following the end of WWII the Anglo American establishment were concerned about the possible invasion of Western Europe by the Soviet Union. However, it soon became apparent that this fear was unjustified. Instead the perceived threat was seen to come from indigenous communist movements. The OSS (forerunner of the CIA) and the O.S.E (who were shortly to be renamed MI6 by the British) formed a plan, codenamed Operation Gladio, to use far right extremist groups and neo Nazi terrorists to combat the rise of what they perceived to be dangerous far left organisations.
Ostensibly, this meant that NATO (or elements of the military intelligence industrial complex withing NATO) supported fascist terrorists to commit acts of terrorism against their own European (and Turkish) populations. All to convince them that "communist terrorism" was a threat. Operation Gladio led to some of the worst terrorist outrages in European history, including the attack upon Bologna Railway Station in 1980. This was state sponsored false flag terrorism on a massive scale.
Following judicial investigations in the 1980's the truth about Operation Gladio was revealed. It became clear that a 'deep state' network that was acting as a parallel government across the European continent for nearly forty years. The Italian Prime Minister, Guilio Andreotti, was compelled to acknowledge the existence of Operation Gladio to the Italian Parliament in 1990. This led to disclosure in the European parliament and the issuing of the European Parliament Resolution on Gladio.
Many people today believe this policy of state sponsored terrorism continues. Often seen as a "conspiracy theory," those who find this suggestion impossible to contemplate may possibly come to understand understand why people suspect this possibility if they familiarise themselves with Operation Gladio.
