It turns out we're in late stage capitalism like a person is in late stage cancer - the disease is strong, but the organism is dying.
Evidence: American life expectancy is shrinking and we're destroying whole ecosystems.
The first is quite myopic, as though only America matters in understanding capitalism. And the blame is largely put on the American health care system, an intensively regulated system all of whose problems are still caused solely by capitalism.
The second ignores the environmental destruction endemic to early capitalism in just about any country, and the increasing demand for environmental protection as a population becomes wealthier.
So, I'm still waiting for evidence we're in any kind of late stage capitalism.
I think the only way it might be late stage is that too many people can't appreciate the great things capitalism has brought us, so through complacency and ignorance they might destroy it politically.
Late stage capitalism is like Santa.
