I just watched George Clooney's excellent film "Good Night, and Good Luck", a semi-documentary featuring reel footage of Joe McCarthy and real scripts of Edward R. In today's political spectrum, New Dealers like Senator Sanders and Representative Ocasio-Cortez are reviled by over half the Senate, and the witch hunt is now for "liberals" and "socialists". OTOH, "centrist" Democrats like Clintons, Obama, and Biden are often to the right of Nixon and Eisenhower!
