President Trump signed legislation today which may target website operators who knowingly facilitate human trafficking. Reteurs, notes that this is happening at the same time that Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is under heavy scrutiny for violating privacy protections and other issues, and that until recently Facebook opposed the sort of legislation that would pressure websites to actively prohibit human trafficking efforts. Some are likely questioning the change in Facebook's position and why they originally opposed the policy. Others may reflect on the time that Mark Zuckerberg tried to meet with former Clinton campaign manager John Podesta in order to help "move the needle" on policy issues such as immigration. This is more disturbing given some of the other policies and policy issues Facebook has been asking their users about as of late, such as when they recently apologized for running a sick and shocking survey asking users if they would condone the site to allow adults to ask underage girls for pictures.
