I've been spending a fair amount of time lately reading journalistic responses to the recent Democratic Party "debates." Myself, I fluctuate between amused and appalled in my reaction, but I didn't watch them, mainly because then the needle would have swung to the appalled side, and that's just no fun at all.
My political position over the last four years has been "Never Trump," but the trend among the Democrats has been so downright crazy that I might consider voting for the Tariff Man after all. To be completely honest, I typically don't vote in presidential elections, because I usually consider both candidates equally unsupportable. To be precise, I have trouble figuring out which one is the "lesser evil" and just wind up washing my hands of the whole dreary business.
Now, I remember 4 years ago thinking that the Dems maybe should consider nominating a moderate candidate in the next election, and indeed, the early support for Biden might have been an indication that many rank-and-file Dems had the same hope. But the Dem powers-that-be seem strangely immune to common sense, and Biden is too slow-witted to understand that he needn't compete in the Wokeness-race at all. Did he really think simply being best-buds with Obama would immunize him from attacks of the "old white male" variety? He may have had the brightest teeth on that stage, but he may have been the dimmest bulb also.
Well, anyway, am I just a goofy outlier when I say that I, a confirmed Never Trumper, may actually vote for the man in the end? I suspect not. The sheer craziness of the bevy of Democratic presidential wannabes may change a lot of Never Trump minds.
BTW, I like Tulsi Gabbard. Disagree with her on lots of things, but I'm grateful for her focus on ending America's endless wars. But of course she hasn't got the ghost of a chance.
